Alpine Rivers Inn

We stayed at Alpine Rivers Inn in Leavenworth. It is a cozy motel with a fantastic view of Wenatchee River just outside our balcony.

A little background on this little town of Leavenworth… It was once a habitat for natives tribes including the Wenatchee, Chinook and Yakama where they used to hunt for elk and deer. Settlers came during the 1800s’ in search of fur, gold, and other minerals and the area grew significantly when railroad construction started. When they relocated the railway routes away from the area, it almost turned this little town into a ghost town. In the 1960s, the leaders made a bold decision to seek tourist growth by turning Leavenworth into a Bavarian town in Washington intertwining German cultures and traditions of the Pacific Northwest cultures.

Leavenworth is a Bavarian-styled little town created to attract tourists with German architecture and cultural festivities, nestled against the beautiful Cascade Mountains. Year round events including musical broadways are also popular in Leavenworth.

There are some German themed Christmas ornaments at the Christmas Shop at the strip malls.

Sound of Music Play
We thoroughly enjoyed the sound of music presented by an outstanding cast in an outdoor amphitheater, surrounded by the beautiful Cascade mountains outside of Leavenworth. What a wonderful experience.

Visconti
Dinner at this Italian restaurant with the Lewis family was awesome!!! Food was good but the company was better❤️ The British Columbia salmon was definitely a hit. And you should certainly try order the ‘s Nightmare for dessert. You won’t regret it, but you might need to share it with a friend or two!

We ordered Shrimp Pasta, British Columbia Salmon, and Visconti’s Nightmare for dessert!
